Yayasan Usahawan Malaysia Applauds PM Anwar Ibrahim’s Strategic Visit to India

Kuala Lumpur, 21 August 2024 – Yayasan Usahawan Malaysia (YUM) proudly supports Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent visit to India, which has resulted in the securing of potential trade and investment deals worth RM8 billion.

“This landmark achievement underscores Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening its economic ties with India, a key global partner, and further cements our nation’s role as a significant player in the international market.” says Nitesh Malani, Chairman of YUM.

During his visit, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim engaged in high-level discussions with Indian officials, emphasizing collaboration in key sectors such as technology, healthcare, renewable energy, and digitalization.

Anwar said 168 investment projects valued at RM4.5 billion were implemented up to March 2024, which were expected to create 16,640 job opportunities.

The Prime Minister said the latest visit to India also saw the signing of eight memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between the Malaysian and Indian governments as well as seven business-to-business MoUs between the countries.

These discussions have opened new avenues for trade, investment, and bilateral cooperation, paving the way for sustainable economic growth and development in both Malaysia and India.

Malaysia and India solidified their bilateral relations with the exchange of eight Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).

The MoUs cover various sectors, including recruitment of foreign workers, traditional medicine, digital technologies, culture, tourism, and public administration.

YUM also acknowledges the significance of this visit in promoting the “Malaysia Madani” vision, which aims to elevate Malaysia’s economic stature while ensuring inclusive and sustainable growth. The outcomes of Prime Minister Anwar’s visit align with YUM’s mission to empower Malaysian entrepreneurs through global opportunities and strategic partnerships in positioning Malaysia as the epicenter of ASEAN.
