How Suria KLCC Group Is Turning Deepavali Celebrations into a Retail Experience

Through cultural attractions, interactive activities and shopping rewards, the group is creating more reasons for visitors to spend time at its three shopping destinations this festive season.

Shopping centres are increasingly looking beyond traditional retail to attract visitors. From festive decorations to cultural performances and interactive activities, malls are creating experiences that encourage people to visit, explore and spend more time at their destinations.

This approach can be seen in Suria KLCC Group’s Deepavali 2026 celebrations, which bring festive experiences to three shopping centres: Suria KLCC in Kuala Lumpur, Alamanda Shopping Centre in Putrajaya and Mesra Mall in Kemasik, Terengganu.

Running across different dates from 23 October to 11 November 2026, the campaign combines Indian cultural elements, family-friendly activities and shopping incentives to create a more engaging festive atmosphere.

Creating More Than a Shopping Destination

At Suria KLCC, the Centre Court has been transformed into a setting inspired by traditional Indian royal palaces. The decoration features a grand entrance with two 10-foot peacocks, golden architectural details, colourful silk fabrics and a pavilion designed to reflect the beauty of Indian heritage.

Beyond the visual attractions, visitors can also enjoy traditional dance performances scheduled for 1, 7 and 8 November.

The programme includes interactive workshops such as Flaaah’s Kolam Tart Decorating Workshop and Yves Rocher’s paper flower arrangement workshop, giving visitors opportunities to participate in creative activities while enjoying the festive atmosphere.

By combining shopping with entertainment and cultural experiences, the mall offers visitors additional reasons to spend time at the destination instead of making a quick shopping trip.

Bringing Festive Experiences to More Communities

The celebrations also extend beyond Kuala Lumpur.

At Alamanda Shopping Centre in Putrajaya, the festive setting features colourful kolam-inspired decorations, traditional lighting and a decorative entrance. The campaign runs until 9 November 2026.

The centre is also using the festive period to support mental health awareness through its Green Ribbon Pin initiative. Visitors can purchase the pins for RM10 each, with proceeds channelled directly to relevant non-governmental organisations.

Meanwhile, Mesra Mall in Kemasik, Terengganu, will host its Deepavali celebrations from 1 to 10 November. Its decorations will feature traditional Indian motifs, floral arrangements and warm lighting to create a welcoming environment for visitors.

Having different attractions at each location allows the group to offer experiences that reflect the character of each shopping destination while bringing the wider celebration to more communities.

Shopping Rewards as Part of the Festive Campaign

Alongside the cultural activities, shopping incentives remain an important part of the campaign.

At Suria KLCC, customers who spend RM1,000 or more using up to two receipts can redeem a RM50 shopping e-voucher, limited to the first 300 redemptions. Customers purchasing a RM1,000 Suria KLCC shopping e-voucher can also receive an additional RM100 e-voucher, limited to the first 20 customers.

At Alamanda, shoppers spending RM500 or more can receive a RM30 e-voucher and two scented candles. Those spending RM1,500 or more can redeem an RM80 e-voucher and a pair of scented candles.

At Mesra Mall, the first 100 customers who spend RM350 or more using up to two receipts can redeem a RM30 shopping voucher.

These incentives form part of a wider retail strategy that encourages shoppers to make purchases while giving them additional value during the festive season.

Why Festive Experiences Matter to Retail Businesses

For shopping centres, festive campaigns can play an important role in building customer engagement and strengthening their position as lifestyle destinations.

Consumers today visit malls for more than just products. They also look for places where they can enjoy meals, spend time with family, participate in activities and experience different cultures.

By combining festive attractions with shopping rewards and community initiatives, Suria KLCC Group demonstrates how seasonal campaigns can create value beyond the traditional shopping experience.

As competition among retail destinations continues, experiences that connect culture, entertainment and shopping may become increasingly important in attracting visitors and encouraging repeat visits.

Ultimately, the Deepavali campaign highlights how shopping centres can become more than commercial spaces. They can also serve as places where communities come together, celebrate traditions and enjoy shared experiences.
